School Evaluation Composites

This report lists the index values and levels for each School evaluation composite. The index is generated from the value-added results for each assessment included in that specific composite and takes into account the combined growth across all included assessments and the associated standard error. All School-level composites are single-year values and are calculated using data only from the most recent school year.

An effectiveness level is applied to each composite index using the following rules.

Effectiveness LevelGrowth Index ValueInterpretation

Level 5 - Most Effective

2.00 or higher

Significant evidence that the School's students made more progress than expected growth.

Level 4 - Above Average Effectiveness

Between 1.00 and 2.00

Moderate evidence that the School's students made more progress than expected growth.

Level 3 - Average Effectiveness

Between -1.00 and 1.00

Evidence that the School's students made progress similar to expected growth.

Level 2 - Approaching Average Effectiveness

Between -2.00 and -1.00

Moderate evidence that the School's students made less progress than expected growth.

Level 1 - Least Effective

Less than -2.00

Significant evidence that the School's students made less progress than expected growth.

When an index falls exactly on the boundary between two levels, the higher level is assigned.

Educators using School-level composites for the growth component in the Tennessee Educator Acceleration Model (TEAM) select a School-level composite from the available options.

School Evaluation Composites are available for these test combinations:

  • TCAP (Grades 4-8)/EOC
  • CTE Concentrators
  • CTE Students
  • TCAP (Grades 4-8)

The Statistical Models and Business Rules of TVAAS Analyses lists the assessments included in each composite type for each test combination.
